Alpina Startimer

The new Alpina Startimer watch model is a chronograph with which Alpina complements its traditionally manufactured pilot's watches with another timepiece of the highest precision. The Startimer has a 'bicompax' counter arrangement that is arranged vertically and a dial that was designed for the three different areas of aviation (naval aviation, air force and bush aviation). The Alpina Startimer model shows the differences through three different color variants of the dial - petrol blue for naval aviation, military green as a symbol for bush aviation and black for the air force.

Alpina Startimer - an automatic chronograph in a class of its own

The Swiss AL-725 automatic chronograph movement was chosen to power the Startimer, which stands for excellent accuracy and reliability in Alpina's luxury watches. The new Alpina Chronograph is equipped with the typical dial design that is characteristic of Alpina pilot's watches - but this time with a charming touch of vintage. The Startimer naturally also has the red triangle at 12 o'clock, which identifies the Alpina Startimer watch model as part of the Alpina collection. So that you can read the time perfectly at all times, the manufacturer has refrained from placing the small seconds at 9 o'clock on the Alpina Startimer model. This division ultimately creates the vertical 'Bicompax' counter arrangement. The Startimer has a 44 millimeter case with anti-reflective sapphire crystal and a larger pilot's screw-down crown. The Alpina Startimer is also water-resistant to a maximum of 100 meters. The case back of the chronograph bears the emblem of the Startimer series as a filigree engraving.

Origin of Alpina luxury watches

The Alpina brand has its origins in Winterthur/Switzerland, where Gottlieb Hauser founded the company in 1883 as the 'Corporation d'Horlogers Suisse'. In order to secure a more central location for the watch manufacturer, the company headquarters were moved to Biel/Switzerland in 1890. In 1901, the company's own watch designs appeared. At the same time, the Alpina brand was patented. From the beginning to the middle of the 20th century, the Alpina watch manufacturer was a proven Swiss brand that acted as an official supplier for the US Continental Air Force, among others. The pioneers of aviation at the time demanded the highest levels of precision: their pilot's watches and instruments had to be absolutely insensitive to shocks and also function extremely precisely. The Alpina luxury watch collections of the time were also mostly equipped with anti-magnetic cases, oversized luminous hands and indices, and high-contrast dials. The Startimer collection was introduced to the public in 2011 and has since become one of the most popular and professional series in the field of pilot watches.
