Even on hot summer days, you want to shine and feel good with an attractive watch. Attractiveness and a well-groomed appearance are very closely linked to an attractive watch. But not every watch strap is suitable for every purpose.

Which material is suitable for summer?

When choosing watch straps, especially for the summer, you should not just look at the design, but also consider the material used. Leather straps are particularly popular for watches. Unfortunately, due to their product properties, they are not at all suitable for the great heat of summer. The strap quickly becomes brittle and fragile because it dries out very quickly in the sun. Sometimes you can achieve a lot by using saddle soap. In this case, you should preferably use saddle soap that is suitable for smooth leather. However, if you really want to be sure that the strap does not suffer any damage and also looks good in the long term, other materials are preferable.

Canvas watch straps are particularly recommended

Canvas straps are characterized by particularly good properties and are particularly comfortable on the wrist on hot summer days. The straps are made from a particularly tight and dense yarn. The composition of the material can be very varied. Cotton, hemp and linen are particularly often used here. However, polyester is sometimes also mixed in. Unlike leather straps, sweat and moisture can be absorbed much better here. The canvas strap does not appear tight and brittle as quickly and is also much easier to clean.

A rubber watch strap is also an exciting alternative

For particularly hot summer days, rubber bracelets are a particularly exciting alternative. You will certainly have to make some compromises here, but this bracelet is significantly better than comparable leather bracelets if you focus on heat and humidity. Rubber bracelets do not simply get completely soaked and therefore always look elegant and fresh, even in summer, as the increased humidity does not cause any visible wear. But where do you have to make compromises and what can this bracelet not do that a canvas bracelet can? Ultimately, the only compromises are in terms of comfort on the wrist. Even if moisture and sweat are not visible, the wearer of the watch can definitely feel them. However, there are differences depending on the model. If you opt for a grooved model, the effect of the increased humidity on the wrist is almost unnoticeable.

The so-called NATO bracelet is extremely popular

This bracelet is a very sturdy yet lightweight pull-through bracelet made entirely of nylon. It consists of 2 metal rings and is fastened with a metal clasp. This model was first introduced in 1973 in the British Ministry of Defense. The NATO bracelet is now also very popular for private use.

The advantages of this construction are by no means to be overlooked. The finely woven nylon absorbs sweat very well on hot summer days and is not easily exposed to wear and tear. Another advantage is that this strap can easily repel dirt and is very tear-resistant. A NATO strap is available in many designs. So you can almost always find a nice model.

Use a high-quality steel bracelet

Steel watch straps are also a great way to survive the summer well and, above all, with comfort. Who wants to wear a completely sweaty watch strap on their wrist?

Steel is a great choice here because it is robust and very resilient. It will not suffer any serious damage even when exposed to high levels of moisture. In general, steel is very resistant to high temperatures and is therefore ideal for a particularly hot summer. But another important advantage must be mentioned here. Despite its robust construction, such a watch strap is pleasantly light and does not heat up uncontrollably. This is a great way to get through the hottest summer!

A large selection that makes a decision not easy

It quickly becomes apparent that there is a large selection of suitable watch straps, even for a particularly hot summer. But which strap is the most suitable and should therefore be on the shortlist? This question cannot be answered in general terms and depends above all on personal preference. In addition to the purely practical properties, which mainly relate to the quality in terms of moisture absorption, the design of a particular watch should be considered more closely. Here, too, personal preference plays a very important role. Not every watch can always be combined perfectly with every outfit.

metal watch strap

A metal watch strap is also highly recommended on hot summer days. It is characterized by robust workmanship and extremely low susceptibility to wear. Even if you tend to sweat a lot, this will not harm the metal strap.

Care plays an important role

Based on the list provided, it quickly becomes apparent that there are many ways to equip yourself with a suitable bracelet on hot summer days. Nevertheless, the bracelets should be cared for accordingly. Depending on the type of bracelet, very different methods can be used. For a metal bracelet, cleaning with a damp cloth and a soft brush is the best option. A cotton swab that has been soaked in soapy water beforehand can also be used very well. You should definitely not neglect to clean thoroughly here, because dirt and dust naturally tend to collect in the gaps. This quickly makes the watch look unattractive and is not necessarily pleasant from a hygienic point of view.

Watch straps made of rubber can also be cleaned particularly well with soapy water. However, rough brushes are not recommended here, as marks could quickly remain on the material. Soapy water should also be rinsed off very thoroughly so that no residue remains. Thorough cleaning extends the lifespan considerably, especially in the case of rubber.
