Celestial mechanics as a model for clockworks

Georges Favre-Jacot, the founder of the famous watch manufactory, was just 22 years old when he founded the "Fabrique des Billodes" in 1865 in Le Locle, Switzerland. Initially, the manufactory produced mainly precision pocket watches. Later, production expanded to include marine chronometers and table clocks. The company name came about because the starry sky reminded the company founder of a clockwork. This is also how the company symbol was created, on which a five-pointed star can be seen. The first wristwatches were produced after the First World War. Later, in 1999, Zenith together with TAG Heuer became part of the luxury goods group LVMH.
