Seiko Astron: The future is now

Dynamism, a spirit of innovation and the courage to rethink the familiar: these are the qualities behind the development of the Seiko Astron. Even the first glance at the high-quality watch reveals its impressive functionality. Thanks to the faceted, octagonal titanium bezel, the subtly patterned dials and the luminous green LumiBrite coating on the hands and indices, it is immediately apparent that the Astron does not conform to the standard of a classic mechanical watch. Every component of this special timepiece sets the course for a technologically promising future.

Technical background of the Seiko Astron

Probably the most unusual feature of the Seiko Astron is its drive, as the watch is powered neither by an automatic movement nor by a quartz caliber. Instead, it is equipped with an innovative GPS solar movement. The caliber 3X62 uses sunlight as a natural source of energy, while the GPS connection ensures the highest accuracy in displaying the time. Up to twice a day, the watch automatically connects to the GPS network when exposed to light to synchronize the time and erase any deviations. The Seiko Astron thus achieves an unbeatable rate deviation of approximately one second in 100,000 years.

Water-resistant to 10 bar and made of anti-allergic metal, the Seiko Astron has an astonishing staying power: With a fully charged battery, the watch runs for up to six months without further charging, and in energy-saving mode for up to a maximum of two years. Numerous additional functions ensure convenient use. For example, the wearer can display the available GPS satellites and the strength of the signal as well as activate flight mode. In view of the concentrated technology on board the Astron, the generally known complications - date, world time function and dual time, perpetual calendar and chronograph function, depending on the reference - almost fade into the background.

Seiko Astron models: futuristic, sporty, chic

If Seiko Astron has its way, the future will be one thing above all: varied. The collection includes a wide range of models, some of which differ considerably not only in terms of complications but also in terms of appearance. Stainless steel or titanium cases in shiny silver or deep black are combined with dials in a matt unicolor look, with crystal patterns, with vertical stripes or with a honeycomb pattern, which play with shades ranging from black and silver to white and blue. In combination, these variables result in a variety of chic, exceptionally futuristic-looking designs, whose elegant highlights do not detract from the basic sportiness.
