The US election campaign is in full swing and while the eyes of the world are on the political campaigns of the two presidential hopefuls, we take a look at their wrists and the luxury watches that Harris and Trump are passionate about.

Cartier Ballon Bleu: Kamala Harris goes for timeless elegance

The woman who could become the first female president of the USA demonstrates excellent taste when it comes to watches. Kamala Harris, who always looks stylish and prefers a classic, modern business look, loves to wear Cartier timepieces. The renowned French jewelry and watch house, which is now part of the Richemont Group, is known for its luxurious, designer pieces of jewelry, the pure aesthetics of which even Harris cannot resist.

For example, she is wearing a gold Cartier Ballon Bleu, which can be described as a tried-and-tested classic from the manufacturer. The high-quality watch stands out with playful, extravagant highlights such as the crown, which interrupts the shape of the dial, and combines these unusual elements with Roman numerals, a circular case and simple hands.

Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin and Rolex: Donald Trump's watch collection

It's no secret that former president and “repeat offender” in terms of campaigning Donald Trump has a penchant for high-priced luxury watches. His watch collection includes some magnificent pieces that are definitely worthy of a president.

It's no secret that former president and “repeat offender” in terms of campaigning Donald Trump has a penchant for high-priced luxury watches. His watch collection includes some magnificent pieces that are certainly worthy of a president. When golfing, for example, Trump likes to wear a Patek Philippe Golden Ellipse. His yellow gold watch, which probably dates back to around 1900, has a deep blue dial and is fastened to an elegant Milanaise bracelet.

No less elegant is Trump's Historiques 1968 by Vacheron Constantin, which accompanied the politician on election night 2016. The filigree watch with a thin, square case and manual winding has a straightforward dial design and looks particularly elegant thanks to the minimalist, fine indices. And then there is the Rolex Day-Date “President's Watch”, which was appreciated by Roosevelt, Kennedy, Eisenhower and Johnson, among others. It goes without saying that the presidents' timepiece is also a must in Trump's collection.

“Trump” luxury watches: Ex-president enters the watch business

Donald Trump is not “just” an ex-president, but above all a businessman. It is therefore hardly surprising that the Republican's interest in watches is also of a business nature. As early as 2005, Trump tried his hand at his own watch collection, although production was quickly discontinued after the twenty-piece “Donald J. Trump Signature Collection” sold rather sluggishly. But this was not to be the end for “Trump” timepieces! This year, the presidential candidate announced his intention to release new Trump models. We are talking about a total of 147 luxury timepieces, powered by Swiss BCP Tourbillons movements. The highly limited, numbered watches made of gold are to be offered for around 100,000 US dollars, and Trump himself is said to have already secured the model with the number 1.

During my school days I worked in the warehouse of an auction house and that was when I first came into contact with exclusive, mechanical watches. The fascination was born from that moment and has not let go of me to this day. So it was clear to me very early on that I wanted to learn more about the history and price development of watches - and of course I wanted to own an automatic watch at some point. (My absolute dream, unfortunately far away, was a Rolex GMT Master with the blue and red Pepsi bezel). During my studies, I took my first steps in trading used watches via various online marketplaces and was then able to afford a used Breitling Colt.
